Supporting better decisions through data-driven insights
Analytics and modelling are powerful tools for understanding health challenges, predicting future trends and evaluating the potential impact of interventions. They enable policymakers and programme managers to move beyond descriptive reporting and make informed decisions based on evidence.
EDAM is working to strengthen Ethiopia's capacity to apply advanced analytical and modelling approaches across priority health areas identified by the Federal Ministry of Health. By bringing together experts from government, academia and partner institutions, the Consortium supports the development of robust methods that can inform policy, planning and programme implementation.
The use of modelling within Ethiopia has expanded significantly in recent years, particularly in areas such as malaria control, COVID-19 response, human resources for health planning and commodity forecasting. However, much of this work has relied on external expertise and has often been conducted through separate initiatives with limited coordination.
EDAM seeks to establish a more coherent national approach by strengthening local expertise and creating opportunities for collaboration between institutions. The Consortium supports the application of a broad range of analytical methods, from statistical analysis and forecasting to more advanced mathematical and computational modelling approaches.
