Developing the next generation of health data leaders
Building sustainable national capacity is at the heart of EDAM's mission.
While investments in data systems, analytics and technology are essential, lasting progress depends on people and institutions having the skills, resources and opportunities needed to generate and use evidence effectively. For this reason, capacity strengthening is embedded across all areas of the Consortium's work.
EDAM is working with government institutions, universities and research organisations to strengthen expertise in health data analytics, modelling, artificial intelligence and evidence-informed policymaking. Through training programmes, mentoring, fellowships and institutional partnerships, the Consortium aims to create a strong pipeline of Ethiopian researchers, analysts and policymakers equipped to address current and future health challenges.
A comprehensive assessment of existing capacities and needs will guide the development of tailored learning opportunities across member organisations. These activities will include workshops, masterclasses, technical exchanges, mentoring programmes and international learning opportunities designed to strengthen both individual and institutional capabilities.
The Consortium will support curriculum development within higher education institutions, helping to ensure that future generations of health professionals have access to training in modern analytical methods, modelling techniques and gender-responsive data practices.
Through these investments, EDAM aims to establish a sustainable national workforce capable of leading Ethiopia's health data and analytics agenda for years to come.
