Evidence to policy

Bridging the gap between research and decision-making

One of the greatest challenges facing health systems globally is ensuring that research findings, analytical outputs and modelling results are translated into policies, programmes and investments that improve people's lives.

Evidence to policy is therefore a central pillar of the EDAM Consortium.

Consortium members include policymakers, programme managers, researchers and technical experts to ensure that evidence generation is aligned with real-world decision-making needs.

This includes supporting the identification of priority policy research questions, facilitating dialogue between scientists and decision-makers, developing policy briefs and decision-support tools, and promoting the use of evidence within planning and programme processes.

EDAM recognises that evidence is most influential when it is communicated clearly and effectively. The Consortium therefore places strong emphasis on knowledge translation, stakeholder engagement and the development of accessible products that support policy uptake.

Through these efforts, EDAM aims to strengthen the culture of evidence-informed decision-making across Ethiopia's health sector and ensure that investments in data and analytics deliver meaningful impact.
